Etymology

[edit]

@Surjection, Hekaheka, Tropylium I believe this is a PF formation (see Ingrian kimalain, Estonian kimalane, Votic tšimolain, Livvi kimaleh), but I'm not sure what form it may be and how to save the etymological information given now (what is the PF predecessor of kimeä?) Could one of you take a look? Thadh (talk) 17:34, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

A majority of the reflexes (Est, Fi, Ing) point to just Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "fiu-fin-pro" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E.. The Livvi form, too, could have been formed from this later on by suffix alternation. I would also agree with Kallio that the comparisons with kimaltaa (to sparkle) (just about limited to Finnish) and kimeä (shrill) (< PF Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "fiu-fin-pro" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E.) are accidental resemblances, since neither particularly applies to the bumblebee. --Tropylium (talk) 19:54, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
