Homophones?

[edit]

This is not a complete homophone with incorrigible, neither in American nor British pronunciation, although admittedly very like-sounding. For clarity, I shall list the differences: the possible stress patterns aren't exactly the same; the first syllable only sometimes has the same vowel; and the second syllable doesn't have the same vowel in any pronunciation in any dialect, as far as I can tell. – Krun 19:37, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not only are the pronunciations not the same the meanings are not the same.
  • Incorrigible (Quote) Unable to be corrected or cured.
  • Encourage-able: Easily Encouraged!
In short it is a mistyping of a word that should be hyphenated. 123.2.78.75 14:26, 23 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
I disagree on the hyphenation; it can often be seen without a hyphen. However, I've removed the homophone, since you're right that it doesn't sound like incorrigible in many accents. Equinox 03:41, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
