Rfv-sense. Ligature. I think that's what it means by "joined vowels". Mglovesfun (talk) 10:06, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- www.dictionary.com mentions diphthong as synonym to both digraph and ligature. --Hekaheka 11:29, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- A "vowel digraph or ligature" sense would be citeable, but "vowel ligature" specifically is trickier. Consider, for example:
- And he might have written the name, also, with the diphthong æ, as well as the single vowel, in the initial syllable, throughout all the preceding forms.
- here it happens to be referring to a vowel ligature, but it's being contrasted with single vowel, which leads me to suspect that the writer thinks of <æ> as a digraph.
