[edit]Argument for the alternate form derailer: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/derailer.html —Darxus (talk) 03:06, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
@Jberkel: Derailer was placed first because the forms were ordered alphabetically. What is the reason for moving it? J3133 (talk) 16:02, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- It's an uncommon, non-standard variant (someone's "one-man campaign", according to the link above), so why should it be listed first? Jberkel 21:23, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Jberkel: I already said why: alphabetical order, which we usually follow. J3133 (talk) 22:01, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- I've never heard of that convention, and don't see why it should be followed here. It might be useful for long lists, but we're talking about 2 items here. Jberkel 22:26, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- The point is consistency with other entries, not the number of items; I do not see a need to intentionally disregard the order here. J3133 (talk) 22:34, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- Where does that convention come from? I don't see it mentioned anywhere on WT:EL or
{{alter}}
. And if we really wanted this, the sorting should be done inside the template, similar to{{rel3}}
&co. Jberkel 22:50, 17 June 2023 (UTC)- I have added the “(uncommon)” qualifier next to derailer, following that entry. Do you agree with this change? J3133 (talk) 22:55, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, sure. Jberkel 23:00, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
