coniugatio and conjugatio

Coniugatio is listed as an alternative form of conjugatio. Shouldn't it be the other way around? (At least that's how it is on other Latin lemmas with the letter "j", correct me if I'm missing something.) Johnny Shiz (talk) 22:51, 10 May 2019 (UTC)

I think so. Wiktionary:About Latin § I and J states: “The distinction between I and J only appears post-Classical Latin. When attested, entries for forms using the J should use {{alternative form of}} or {{alternative spelling of}} to point to the non-J spelling.” I interpret this as the non-J spelling always being the main entry, and definitely so for terms attested in Classical Latin (which includes the word coniugatio, used by Cicero: Haec verborum coniugatio συζυγία dicitur, ...^[1]). Note that conjugo is accordingly listed as an alternative spelling of coniugo.  --Lambiam 13:54, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
