Etymology
[edit]@Mlgc1998 Just a clarification again that "blend" is for modern coinages, not historical etymologies which are more from natural evolution. In this case, this is not necessary a fusion of "abo" and "hangin", and Potet did not claim it as such. Linguists, especially in Austronesian, hypothesize lost Austronesian roots found across Philippine languages (not sure if you've read on that), like how "hay" is present in many words related to life, or "tay" is present in many words related to "death". This sounds like one of them. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 10:46, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
- Actually looking at his book, it seems like every time he posits an ancient root, he puts a check mark. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 10:47, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
