• brehon- appears in Beowulf "the brehon handed him a hilted weapon" on line 1457, something like an Early Irish Political figure see w:Early Irish Law--Dictionman 22:32, 13 February 2009 (UTC) — Capitalisation? The Wikipedia page uses a capital B, as does this Irish Society article. Wikipedia also says it is "an Anglicisation of breitheamh (earlier brithem), the Irish word for a judge." I may stand corrected if I remember my history correctly brehons were judges in Celtic societies. Other related terms include (deprecated template usage) rí (the king), (deprecated template usage) tuath (his "dominion" or whatever you will call it), (deprecated template usage) Aos Dána (wise men, sometimes included women.
