božati, bozkať

[edit]

What is the connection between this Slovenian word and Slovak bozkať? They seem so similar in phonology. As well as French bisou, bise, Latin (deprecated template usage) basio, but I would be flabbergasted if the Romance words are related as well. I've added the etimology section. Czech 'bozkat' is derived from *ubogъ as well and the same holds for the Slovak version. The Romance words are not related. Lat. basio < bāsium < PIE *bu 'lips, kiss' (according to Pokorny; the reconstruction is obviously outdated, but it seems fairly onomatopoetic to me). Aljoša Avani (talk) 11:32, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
