That's crazy, I cannot find a single explanation on the web. I doubt it's derived from Ancient Greek; it looks like it's been deformed from aphephobia. --Anus Dei (talk) 18:59, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- φίλτατε X! Is that you?
- You are right ἁφή haphe (αφηφοβία haphephobia) -or ἅπτω hapto (απτοφοβία haptophobia).
- Then there is -en: ἁφήν? Accusative? No. An ἀφίημι misspellt form? too elaborate for him. Ι also considered αφήνω = sesne: I allow. No.
- Then there is phos: if φῶς it should be φωτ-ο- photophobia
- Then there is osm- ὀσμή: it should be osm-o-phobia. I also considered ὤσμωσις osmosis: aphen osmosis = I allow to come close, but NO.
I kept looking at the word, wondering what the psychiatrist who made it up had been thinking.
- IF he meant haphe-+phot-o-+osm-o-+phobia we would have haphephotosmophobia or better: απτοφωτοσμοφοβία. But the symptoms described have nothing to do with light and smell. Ουφφφφφφ!... I got aphenphosmphobiaphobia. sarri.greek (talk) 08:42, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Sarri.greek: Yes, either it's a very complicated puzzle, or it's no puzzle at all and just the work of an αναλφάβητος... --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 14:30, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
