Spanish is my mother tongue and I've never heard "fortunado" except in very old Spanish poetry (like Juan de Mena's or Quevedo's, together with words like fechos instead of modern hechos, etc), in surnames and in wrong derivatives from fortuna.
The usual word, derived from fortuna is afortunado. I also haven't heard it coming from Latin American Spanish, if someone has please tell.--RiseRover 09:06, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, this is what we were taught at our school, soa I assumed it to be correct. I'll fix it now. Celestianpower 16:00, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
- Of course the old words are still also valuable. Davilla 16:18, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
