After Editing

[edit]

I saw that this page was being edited many times, back and forth. Before changing it again, I think it is a good idea to look at the references cited at the bottom of the page. Three sources have been cited and so far the editions made by other users had no references. Make sure to discuss this properly before editing. Asante. --Jenomu 28 Aprili 2010

Looks good to me. —Stephen (Talk) 12:00, 29 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Article created yesterday by an IP, that indicates it's planet Uranus in Swahili. But w:sw:Zohali says it's planet Saturn... Anyone knows which is right? (We're having the same discussion on the French Wiktionnaire). --Actarus (Prince d'Euphor) 10:14, 27 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Zohali means Saturn Noun class 9. Uranus in Swahili is Uranus. I corrected the entry. —Stephen (Talk) 10:48, 27 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ok. Thanks. --Actarus (Prince d'Euphor) 11:51, 27 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Can we close this RFV? --Mglovesfun (talk) 16:05, 28 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yep, good enough for me, for now. Ƿidsiþ 08:45, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

The relevant source for tradional astronomic vocabulary in Swahili is Jan Knappert, "The Swahili Names of Stars, Planets and Constellations." In: Indian Ocean Review, The. Perth, Australia, v. 6 n. 3, September 1993, pp 5-7. The planet list in KAST dictionary (Kamusi Awali ya Sayansi na Tekinologia (KAST). Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: Ben & Co. Ltd., 1995; out of print and out of use) was completely messed up. The current dictionaries have corrected this, see Kamusi Kuu ya Kiswahili, Longhorn nairobi 2017, →ISBN Invalid ISBN ("sayari ya sita" = the sixth planet); TUKI ENglish-Swahili Dictionary 3rd edition, Dar es Salaam 2006, →ISBN (Saturn 1. Zohali). so there were just a few textbooks for primary schools which followed KAST. Kipala (talk) 14:45, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
