German. The original definition was devil dog in the sense of a U.S. Marine. Does this sense actually exist in German? Megathonic (talk) 05:02, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- According to this site, the epithet was coined in German by an American, and then translated to English as devil dog. Thus it was never really used by Germans even though it was a German language phrase. It's possible that it's been picked up ironically now that we're friendly to Germany and have an airbase there, but I couldnt find any low hanging fruit to pick. —Soap— 11:38, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
