Etymology of Min Nan

[edit]

I believe SPP to stand for the Min Nan word sio̍k-phiak-phiak (俗phiak-phiak), but am not confident enough in the spelling or the characters to put it in the main entry. A-cai 14:03, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

@Wyang, Justinrleung: Could you please provide pronunciation, and create the entry upon which this is based? Thanks! —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 21:56, 9 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
I think the word is usually written as 俗斃斃, but I'm having trouble verifying the pronunciation. Perhaps Justin is more resourceful. Wyang (talk) 23:37, 9 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
It should be 傖壁壁 (sông-piah-piah, 倯壁壁 according to MoE recommended characters, from Tw-Ch台文中文辭典) or 倯煏煏 (sông-piak-piak, from 台灣閩南語辭典). The p may be aspirated, as heard in this video. I'm not sure about creating an entry for this since none of these orthographies seem to be common. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 06:52, 10 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
If you don't want to create the entry, how should we format the etymology? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 03:11, 11 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
