Regions

@Mahagaja There is an Austro-Bavarian version of standard German which is spoken in those areas which traditionally speak the Bavarian dialects. It is not identical with those dialects and it is not confined to the political units of Austria and Bavaria, as it covers at least the Bavarian descendants of Italy and possibly those in other regions - and I don't want to introduce endless nitpicky lists into these tags, which is my main reason for going with dialect names over regions. The Irish language has a separate language code too, but we still speak about Irish English. This is parallel case. Korn [kʰũːɘ̃n] (talk) 22:01, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

• @Korn: I guess the important thing to me is getting the word into the right subcategory/ies of CAT:Regional German. We do have CAT:Austrian German; we do not have CAT:Austro-Bavarian German, CAT:Bavarian German, or CAT:Italian German/CAT:South Tyrolean German, but of course we could create any of those deemed necessary. —Mahāgaja (formerly Angr) · talk 14:46, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
• There's also CAT:Southern German, which includes standard German as spoken in B-W and Switzerland. We could label Kukuruz as Southern German as long as it's understood that the term is used within the Southern German area, but not throughout it.
