Why is this capitalized? --Connel MacKenzie 08:10, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because the Kraken is a mythical creature of which there is no other type. Also, it is the name of a mythical creature that somehow ended up on the wiktionary. The7DeadlySins 23:22, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proper noun or regular noun?

[edit]

In most dictionaries, its labelled as a noun, not a proper noun. The alternative forms are also labelled as nouns. Inpacod2 (talk) 04:19, 8 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

In modern English, kraken is largely used as a proper noun. Compare with Viking, Jörmungander, Fenrir, etc. But historically, no, its not a proper noun in dictionaries. Blockhaj (talk) 16:26, 9 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
