Italics in taxonomic names

You undoubtedly know that genus names and sub-generic names are italicized. But names of eukaryote groups above the rank of genus are not, so use of "i=1" in templates that refer to such taxa is not appropriate. OTOH, all names of prokaryote groups and of viruses are italicized. DCDuring (talk) 15:54, 25 January 2025 (UTC)
