How is this different from Fundamentalsatz + der Arithmetik? Chuck Entz (talk) 22:12, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- Delete, just as SOP as, say Hauptstadt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland or Zentralkomitee der deutschen Katholiken. --Lambiam 14:23, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Delete as SOP. Imetsia (talk) 14:58, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- I would keep it and wikify the definition properly as fundamental theorem of arithmetic. SemperBlotto (talk) 15:06, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Keep, it refers to a specific theorem.__Gamren (talk) 17:32, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
- Satz von Hjelmslev also refers to a specific theorem. And why restrict the specificity exception to theorems? The Berliner Verfahren is a specific procedure. The Turm von Jericho is a specific stone structure. The Geburtshaus von Karel Havlíček Borovský is a specific house. And so on. --Lambiam 15:06, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Keep and give it a proper definition. It's not SOP. It is not just any fundamental theorem of arithmetic, it is the fundamental theorem of arithmetic, with a specific content that can't be gleaned from the parts. See also fundamental theorem of arithmetic SteveGat (talk) 15:51, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Wouldn’t you agree that the Hauptstadt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland is not just any capital, but that it is the capital of the BRD, with a geographic location that can’t be deduced from the parts? That is not lexical information; it is what we have encyclopedias for. --Lambiam 17:19, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
- That's not analogous. If I have sufficient knowledge of German matters, specifically that Berlin is currently its capital, I can deduce from the constituents that Hauptstadt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, if used in a post-unification source, refers to Berlin. The same is true of Geburtshaus von Karel Havlíček Borovský, but not your other three examples. No amount of background knowledge of number theory would allow me to deduce the meaning of the term Fundamentalsatz der Arithmetik.__Gamren (talk) 11:34, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
- If you have enough knowledge of number theory to know that its most fundamental theorem is that of the eindeutige Primfaktorzerlegung jeder positiven ganzen Zahl (unique prime factorization of each positive integer), you shouldn’t have a hard time to figure out that this has to be the Fundamentalsatz der Arithmetik. If German is your native tongue but you didn't pay any attention to the developments in Germany for the last 30 years, you might be unaware of the status of Berlin. If we may assume everyone has sufficient knowledge of all matters, not only can we do away with dictionaries, we can also do without encyclopedias. --Lambiam 16:51, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

- Keep As per fundamental theorem of arithmetic. Also, "Hauptstadt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, if used in a post-unification source, refers to Berlin" is false. If talking about 1964, it would have referred to Bonn. In a science fiction novel, it may refer to Königsberg or Ptolemaeus, a city in the lunar crater Ptolemaeus. Capitals move all the time. This, on the other hand, is the unchanging "fundamental theorem of arithmetic"; it refers to a unique theorem, and isn't going to change.--Prosfilaes (talk) 23:20, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
