Delete This does seem SOP and it is poorly defined as it tautologically uses the word system to define Federal Reserve System anyway. Similar tautological problems exist for our Federal Reserve entry though (which even has Federal Reserve System as one of its definitions.).

Perhaps the most famous claim that Federal Reserve System isn’t SOP comes from the author Eustace Mullins, who made the following famous and oft-repeated claim in his book The Secrets of the Federal Reserve(1952), page 11:- ‘I have sounded the toxin (sic. - he means tocsin) that the Federal Reserve System is not Federal, it has no reserves, and it’s not a system at all, but rather, a criminal syndicate’ [1]. This falls flat though, as there’s no reason why a system can’t be criminal in nature. Overlordnat1 (talk) 13:05, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

• Keep: If Federal Reserve is an ellipsis of Federal Reserve System, which going by the current definitions it seems to be, then Federal Reserve System isn't SOP because "Federal Reserve + System" would not be a valid way to define it. Theknightwho (talk) 19:34, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

  The Federal Reserve System was established by:

  AN ACT to provide for the establishment of Federal reserve banks, to furnish an elastic currency, to afford means of rediscounting commercial paper, to establish a more effective supervision of banking in the United States, and for other purposes. [...] the short title of this act shall be the “Federal Reserve Act.” [...] The term “board” shall be held to mean Federal Reserve Board; the term “district” shall be held to mean Federal Reserve District; the term “reserve bank” shall be held to mean Federal Reserve Bank.^[2]

  The word system only occurs in the Act in the collocations “the reserve banking system” and “the system established by this Act”. So Federal Reserve System means: the system established by the Federal Reserve Act.  --Lambiam 16:57, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

  While true, that Act doesn't use "Federal Reserve" as a proper noun either - it seems to be used as an adjective, with "Federal Reserve Board" seeing the most use, and "Federal Reserve Banks", "Federal Reserve Act" and "Federal Reserve Agent" also seeing use.
