if we can find forms with just -matic, which I'd expect, we could say that the longer form is parseable as -o- + -matic. Another reason to think of it this way is that I think people pronounce the /o/ as a full vowel whereas we generally dont in automatic. Soap 04:48, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
The word hydromatic occurs in a song and seems to be a rare word used to describe something powered by water motion. I'd say that is a separate use from this page because it's an adjective and does not require a verb. Soap 06:12, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
