[edit]Hi @Mnemosientje! I hope you're doing well. I can't edit this etymology myself, as I've been quite busy, but I'll send you some useful stuff here.
Lehmann explains "only nom pl m -kai E 2.3 gloss to barna hatize ÏÎÎșΜα áœÏÎłáżÏ children of warth" and mentions Uhlenbeck 1905 BGDSL 30:319 "Meaning and etymology uncertain" and L Meyer 1869:278 that proposed relationship with Skt váčáčĂĄkti turn, with loss of w-, Gk áŒÏγΔÎčÎœ, both extensions of PIE wer- turn, bend P 1959:1152-54, 1168; approved by K Johansson 1891 BGDSL 15:236-36. Grienberger 1900:230 reconstructed *uz-wrugks unsettled, relating this to Gk áż„ÎÎŒÎČÏ roam about, also from PIE wer-, with extension wremb-, P 1959:1153; cf Wood 1901 MLN 16:311." and adds "Neither proposal cogent".

- @LĂ«tzelĂșcia: Thanks, I hadn't checked Lehmann yet myself and took me a while to get around to this. But I have now added these theories and Lehmann's view to the entry. â Mnemosientje (t · c) 11:23, 29 September 2024 (UTC)

- @LĂ«tzelĂșcia: Haha thanks for the offer -- but I actually own it as a printed book, and have a pdf as well :D Sometimes I'm just lazy, hence why I hadn't gotten around to it yet. â Mnemosientje (t · c) 11:40, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
