Actually, I think the original is really "老鼠" and the pronunciation just changed in Xiamen and Zhangzhou, then the Taiwanese got it too. So I see "鳥鼠" as an alternative way of writing "老鼠". Although I do get it, that looking at "鳥", this character was clearly selected because of the "niau" pronunciation. I just don't consider them different words. Although, there are good reasons of not including the Quanzhou pronunciation here though, I admit, like the reason that the intention of using the "鳥" character is because of the "niau" pronunciation, and since the Quanzhou pronunciation still is "lo", it's not part of here. Streamlining both Entries

@Justinrleung I noticed that the entry 老鼠 (lǎoshǔ) still has the "niau" pronunciations listed in it, but since 鳥鼠／鸟鼠 is also made as an entry, and the dialectal synonyms chart uses 鳥鼠／鸟鼠 for "niau" dialects and 老鼠 (lǎoshǔ) for "lo" dialects, then shouldn't we remove the "niau" pronunciations in 老鼠 (lǎoshǔ)? Also, we would have split words like 老鼠當／老鼠当 into two entries, right? Mar vin kaiser (talk) 16:01, 25 December 2023 (UTC)
