Alternate pronunciation
[edit]User:Mongol says that this character can also be pronounced as "ē."[1] Is this correct? 24.93.190.134 04:45, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- ē is a valid Mandarin reading for this character. However, the words that use this reading tend to be a little more obscure than words with the ā reading.

There's a type of mule hide glue called "ejiao," and I think a city called "Dong-e" that both use the character. Can we, thus, add e1 as an alternate pronunciation? 24.223.167.112 23:49, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Ah
[edit]Can this character be used in Chinese writing to approximate the English "ah," as in "Ah, I see!"? 24.93.190.134 05:38, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- I think 啊 is used for this [2]. Kappa 05:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
