Definition

I do not think the current definition is correct. "胡兀兒" is simply a transliteration into Chinese of a Mongolian term meaning "string instrument" or "[musical] instrument." "Morin khuur" is the Mongolian term meaning "horse head fiddle" and "khuur" is a generic Mongolian term meaning "string instrument" (often played with a bow) or "[musical] instrument." 173.89.236.187 05:00, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

We need to be scholarly when making our entries. Because the morin khuur is by far the most popular Mongol instrument (and the national instrument of Mongolia, it is natural that many people may use the term "khuur" without modifier to refer to the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle). This doesn't change the fact that "khuur" (and its Chinese transliteration) is also and originally a generic term for stringed musical instruments. The usage may be similar to 琴, which can be used to mean the guqin, or, with modifier, 胡琴, 秦琴, etc., or simply to refer to any kind of stringed (or even non-stringed) musical instrument. 173.89.236.187 17:03, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
