Distinction between 盡量 (jìnliàng) and 儘量 (jǐnliàng)

[edit]

@Wyang, Tooironic I think there's a distinction to be made between 盡量 (jìnliàng) and 儘量 (jǐnliàng). This is from Cross Straits Dictionary (Chinese Linguipedia):

盡量:達到最大量。「他喝酒有節制,不盡量」。(verb)
儘量:表示(動作行為)力求達到最大限度。「儘量處理」、「若有問題,請儘量提出」。(adverb)

Thanks. Geez, this is confusing. I tried to separate the two, but it seems there are different rules for using them, for example this document (or is it because the sense "reach the limit" is rarely used in legal contexts?). Wyang (talk) 02:34, 19 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
I would say the sense "reach the limit" is rare in legal contexts, so they're talking about 儘量 (jǐnliàng), often read as jìnliàng. I think you mixed the two up; 盡量 is the verb and 儘量 is the adverb. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 02:38, 19 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yeah sorry! Thanks for fixing it. Wyang (talk) 02:50, 19 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
