Pronunciation
[edit]@The dog2 It's not clear from the video that it's "chā-hng-á". 昨昏 is contracted as one syllable (which is evident from how it's written in the subtitles), but I'm not sure what tone it should be. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 22:30, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Justinrleung It sounded like the first tone to me, but then again, sometimes the tone can shift away from the "correct" tone when people are speaking quickly. The dog2 (talk) 22:33, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- @The dog2: It's not clear to me because there's lots of white noise with the wind blowing. My source on Tong'an doesn't have this word, so it's hard to verify. Maybe we should take out the pronunciation for now until we find better evidence? — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 22:35, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Justinrleung That's fine with me too. I wonder if maybe the tone of the 仔 character can change depending on which dialect of Hokkien is spoken. The dog2 (talk) 22:37, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- @The dog2: Yup, different dialects of Hokkien do different things. In Tong'an (and Kinmen), from what I've read, it seems to be 輕聲 all the time. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 22:39, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
