Rfv-sense "(literally) a flat rice paddy". —Suzukaze-c◇◇ 02:07, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
- Daijirin says
平らな田地。
. Daijiten by Heibon-sha says平坦な田。
. Both are meaning a flat rice paddy. --Naggy Nagumo (talk) 00:28, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
- So if I understand this, the meaning is really a rice paddy on flat terrain, so that no terracing is needed. --Lambiam 17:37, 21 October 2018 (UTC)
- ひらた【平田】flat [unterraced] paddy fields; rice fields on flat land. (研究社 Online Dictionary - 新和英大辞典第5版). My comment: "a flat rice paddy" doesn't quite convey that meaning, since terraced paddy fields may flat (each one individually, I mean). Also, "(literally)" can be removed from the Wiktionary definition, I should think. Richwarm88 (talk) 23:53, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
