Archaic in all dialects?

[edit]

@Atitarev, Wyang, Mar vin kaiser, Hongthay: I only know that this term is archaic in Cantonese (only used in dramas/films in ancient settings). Is this true for other dialects? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 02:56, 29 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's categorised as "Chinese terms with archaic senses" and the display says where it's archaic. No problem, IMO. I don't know if splitting by labels and lects is that important. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 04:09, 29 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Atitarev I wasn't concerned about categorization. I'm just asking if any of you know whether this term is still used normally in other lects. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 04:20, 29 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
I know in some central Mandarin dialects (e.g. in Henan), 娘親 is used as a non-face-to-face, somewhat lofty name for "mother" (especially during funerals, etc.). Wyang (talk) 10:32, 29 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
