要る is godan.

Thanks for pointing that out. I've gone ahead and fixed it. --Haplology (talk) 18:20, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Why has this page been blanked of the information on 'to be'? This spelling is usual; 居る is rare. Furthermore, 居る's page calls this the 'main article'. --90.196.158.230 14:00, 2 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dialect

[edit]

@Fish bowl says, "居てる is dialect according to google:居てる". I don't see such information when I click that link, though. Google does not show the same search results to each user.

Forms such as 居てる are common abbreviations of 居ている, and there is some regional/age/etc. related variation in use of progressive / imperfect forms versus plain forms. For example, 「太郎が居ません。」 or 「太郎が居ていません。」 can both mean "Taro isn't here right now", but (if memory serves / if I understand correctly) the latter is more common in Osaka. Could that be what you were wondering about? Cnilep (talk) 02:56, 22 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
