This is clearly not a patronym, as ὑπέρ is not a person's name. But when looking at words like ἡδῑ́ων and βραχῑ́ων it comes into mind that ὑπερῑ́ων might simply be "the higher one", corresponding quite literally and even etymologically to latin superior. The name would then originally be an epithet Imbricitor (talk) 16:36, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
