Etymology

@Vahagn Petrosyan, I do call you a lot on etymologies. Anyways, I'm like 99 percent sure this word comes from name of the Lake Sevan in Georgian sources: "გელაქუნი" and the suffix "-ური". Compare ორაგული (oraguli). The entry youre actually looking for for the Armenian borrowing is "გელარქუნი" which I have never heard used, nor have I found any sources for this word but a Armenian-Georgian dictionary. Now for my question, could the word գեղարքունի (geġarkʻuni) have actually come from გელაქნური (gelaknuri) through metathesis? -Solarkoid (talk) 12:47, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

@Solarkoid: feel free to ping me. So გელაქნური (gelaknuri) is an inner-Georgian formation, and not directly borrowed from Armenian գեղարքունի (geġarkʻuni). Both are ultimately from the old name of lake Sevan and the province containing it. --Vahag (talk) 13:59, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
