I like the Pali explanation. A belief in it would explain the spelling, even if it's not the true etymology - cf. the 's' in English island. --RichardW57 (talk) 15:05, 22 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a reference, or better an example, for sthāna being Pali? It would be late Pali; the Pali of the canon and the early commentaries has ṭhāna. --RichardW57 (talk) 15:17, 22 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
