@Exarchus, because it is /ʃ/, not /s/. Probably a typo on user Sbb1413's part. Also, the initial vowel is nowadays commonly /o/, not /ɔ/, though that is also heard sometimes. The audio speaker is probably speaking in that latter, more traditional way. But I have placed the /o/ containing one first due to its increasing usage. Upamedhika (talk) 11:31, 21 July 2023 (UTC)

@Upamedhika Ok, another one is অফিস, the recordings sound to me like /ɔfis/. Maybe both /s/ and /ʃ/ are possible.

I do think that the romanisation of সবজি should be 'śobji' (not 'śoboji'), it's simply that the rules for inherent vowel deletion in the bn-translit module are (logically) not correct for non-native words. Exarchus (talk) 12:02, 21 July 2023 (UTC)

@Exarchus, yes I agree in all those points:

1. অফিস is pronounced with both of those voiceless sibilants, though the palato-alveolar one (ʃ) is more common as per traditional Bengali favor over this sound over the other sibilants.
2. সবজি has incorrect transliteration and it should be -śobji- like you said.
