- You need to use a human language when writing an etymology. This sequence of letters is incomprehensible — (gwtrz) Gōtarz : gwtrazk, gtrzk Gōtarzak. Γωτάρζης, Justi 118a, < *Gau-tarza-. Gau (cow, ox, < Pokorny *gu̯ou-); OIr. witness < Khot. ustairṣṭai 'you tore' , *us-tarz-, with Bailey H.W. Dictionary of Khotan Saka, 43a. - Mr. Gudarzi jan, I looked at your source. As I suspected, MacKenzie did not write the gibberish you posted here. I have processed that and other sources and expanded the etymology. - (edit conflict) If you can't figure out that this is a dictionary for a broad, English-speaking audience, then you're wasting your time here. Academic dictionaries use all kinds of abbreviations (which they explain in a separate part of the work, which you neglected to include...) because they have limitations of space, and the works are directed at a vary narrow audience. We don't, and we aren't.
- In this case, the work is also still in copyright, so copying the format verbatim is also incompatible with our license. If all you can do is mindlessly regurgitate what you found in another dictionary, letter-for-letter, maybe you shouldn't be editing etymologies. Chuck Entz (talk) 04:15, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
