Proto-Turkic, or formed after Proto-Turkic and borrowed into Iranian, or formed in Iranian?

[edit]

@Calak: There seems to be an intricate controversy about borrowing directions for this word, it is in both groups, Iranian and Turkic, spread widely: As I had understood it was borrowed into Proto-Turkic (or a part of it?). Fay Freak (talk) 21:49, 6 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

I think that Proto-Turkic is form a variant of (Old) Iranian *čakušača- (čakuša- + diminutive suffix) > *čakušča- > čakuč, whence MP. čakuč (and Tati čækÿč + Kurdish). Persian čakuš is without diminutive suffix.--Calak (talk) 06:59, 7 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
