Rfv-sense: "winnowing fan" فين أخاي (talk) 01:19, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- It was added by @Benwing2 in 2015, with a reference to Steingass. The template didn't have the page number specified, but I was able to find the entry here and I updated the template. I don't know if anyone in the real world has ever used it, but the dictionary does, in fact, have that sense. Chuck Entz (talk) 01:52, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Chuck Entz, Fenakhay (Notifying Atitarev, Mahmudmasri, Metaknowledge, Wikitiki89, Erutuon, ZxxZxxZ, عربي-٣١, Fay Freak): I have since come to the conclusion that Steingass may not be so reliable. What do others think? Benwing2 (talk) 02:43, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- OTOH, Lane's dictionary [1] says "Also [but less commonly] A wooden implement with prongs, [lit., fingers,] with which wheat and the like are winnowed." Benwing2 (talk) 02:46, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- That sense ("A wooden implement with prongs with which wheat and the like are winnowed") is also recorded in Dehkhoda Dictionary,[2] which cites the dictionaries اقرب الموارد (an Arabic dictionary), Anandraj (Persian), منتهیالارب (Arabic -> Persian), and ناظم الاطبا (Persian) for this particular sense. --Z 13:23, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

- RFV-kept. Steingass is not especially reliable, but if it's in Lane, then it's based on real classical usage. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 21:43, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
