@Benwing I hope I made it right but please check. Not 100% sure it's a triptote and have checked other senses. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 01:41, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- It's a triptote according to Wehr. Wehr says that the form meaning "Christ" is المسيح in the definite. Presumably مسيح in general means "Messiah" or "anointed". Benwing (talk) 02:39, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Benwing Thanks, so do we need an entry for المسيح or just link the translation here, e.g. الْمَسِيح m (al-masīḥ)? Unlike words like اَلْقَاهِرَة (al-qāhira) there are forms with or without the article, so not sure how to proceed. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 02:50, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, don't really know, not familiar enough with Arabic. I would guess we should have مسيح (“Messiah”) and separately المسيح (“the Messiah, Christ”), since "Messiah" can be a generic term. The declension of المسيح would use
state=def
to restrict the declension to the definite state. Benwing (talk) 02:58, 5 January 2015 (UTC)- @Benwing. OK, thanks, I think I got it now. Pls see both entries. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 03:09, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
