@Calak, do you know the origin of Northern Kurdish garanîk (starling)? --Vahag (talk) 13:24, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Well, it is my theory: ga(r)ranîk is from earlier *ga(r)ranik from ga(r)ran "herd of cattle" + -ik. For similar compound compare Persian gâvčerânak "cattle egret" from gāvčerān "herdsman" + -ak. It seems that ga(r)ranik means "cattle egret" not "starling", check ga(r)ranîk in Kurdish wikipedia.--Calak (talk) 15:53, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Then I can't connect it to կեռնեխ (keṙnex). --Vahag (talk) 16:30, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Just know we have karak "quail" in MP.--Calak (talk) 18:15, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
OK, will keep that in mind. --Vahag (talk) 18:50, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
