No. There have been proposed several etymologies for each word, but none of them relates երկար (erkar) to երկին (erkin, “sky”) or երկաթ (erkatʻ, “iron”). The last two are sometimes connected with each other though. --Vahag (talk) 13:17, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
