Overview of etymological opinions
[edit]Although the etymology of բարք is mentioned as unknown, HAB, Olsen 1999, and J̌ahukyan 2010, give different etymologies to the word, therefore the mentioning of those perspectives on the wiktionary page would be helpful.
For example,
Olsen 1999:870 derives a probable Iranian origin for barkʿ. Specifically speaking, from Middle Persian blšn' (bearing, behaviour).
On the other hand, J̌ahukyan gives an Indo-European inherited origin to բարք, and derives it from the root *bhr (*bʰer-?, *bʰeh₂-?)
HAB, cites a potential connection to Middle Persian *bārak BoghosBoghossian (talk) 05:24, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
