@Vahagn Petrosyan: Should be from արջն (arǰn, black) +‎ Parthian *āspan; compare Parthian 𐫀𐫘𐫇𐫗 (ʾswn /āsun/, iron). *āspan is from Proto-Iranian *āĉu̯ana- and āsun is from its zero-grade Proto-Iranian *āĉuna-.--Calak (talk) 09:38, 5 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Calak: Martirosyan mentions the possibility that -ա- (-a-) comes from Iranian itself. Since there are uncertainties in the Iranian reconstructions, I prefer to keep that discussion on the future Proto-Iranian page (or the Tocharian etymon's page, if Fritz, Matthias; Klein, Jared; Joseph, Brian, eds. (2017) Handbook of Comparative and Historical Indo-European Linguistics, v. II, page 1370 is right that the Iranian words are borrowed from Tocharian). --Vahag (talk) 12:19, 5 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
