Akkadian foreign word

I had the strange feeling that the source of Arabic عِدّان (ʕiddān) may be have been borrowed into Armenian too, and here I am, @Vahagn Petrosyan. There is not too much been written about the Akkadian words, especially before the 21st century, hence they have easily been missed in Armenology. From Daniel Bodi (2013): Akkadian and Aramaic Terms for a “Favorable Time’. In: Time and History in the Ancient Near East page 53, who is commented with additional Critical and Philological Notes about the meaning of the Akkadian word, I remember to have come, in January when I created the entry, to the conclusion that the Aramaic terms are from Akkadian, scraping together more Akkadian forms from elsewhere for my demonstrations. Note the relevant transcription adiānu, Breckwoldt p. 4a.

That this word would be an etymological twin to وَعْدَة (waʕda), as some Frenchmen suggest, by reason that initial w commonly becomes ∅ in Akkadian and ʕ becomes e-colouring, one may doubt in view of the variants. Fay Freak (talk) 02:13, 10 July 2021 (UTC)

@Fay Freak this has been proposed but has gone unnoticed. I think it is easier and likelier than the traditional PIE derivation. --Vahag (talk) 16:45, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
