Etymology

Borrowing from Middle Persian looks more probable (unless we make sure it has been borrowed during Parthian era; when was the earliest attestation?) I just found out that the variant used in Parthian was probably pronounced /narsaxʷ/, while the Middle Persian variant was /narsah/, /narseh/, /narseː/. --Z 11:18, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

The Old Armenian language was not written prior to the 5th century AD, therefore we cannot base our decision on the attestation date. The name was borne by historical Armenian persons from the 5th century BC onwards, but historians writing about them after the 5th century AD may have used the Middle Persian form familiar to them. In light of your finding we can put the form Ներսեհ (Nerseh) as from Middle Persian. That is what Ačaṙyan claims after all.
