From Greek Λουδοβίκος (Loudovíkos)? —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 17:22, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- Not necessarily. Our tradition is to grecize the Latin form indepedently of the actual Greek form. For example, Հենրիկոս (Henrikos) is not similar to the Greek form Ερρίκος (Errhíkos) of Henry. --Vahag (talk) 17:46, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- Doesn't the palatal point to a borrowing from Russian Людо́вик (Ljudóvik)? And does Լուդովիկոս (Ludovikos) exist? --Barytonesis (talk) 17:49, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- Լուդովիկոս (Ludovikos) is attested since the 17the century. You are right that the Russian influence reshaped old Լուդովիկոս (Ludovikos) to Լյուդովիկոս (Lyudovikos). --Vahag (talk) 18:00, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
