Macedonian word "јасјас"
[edit]This is by far the most widely use word for "meme" in Macedonia. It was removed the first time I added it and seem to understand what the problem is. Ioanne-aleksandtvrre (talk) 15:02, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

- Is this a word?! -- Gorec (talk) 16:27, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- To me it seems like itself a, recent, meme. Fay Freak (talk) 16:41, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- "Meme" in Macedonian is мем, borrowed from English. "Јасјас" (јас + јас) = me + me. It's used on Macedonian forums and on Reddit. For example Јасјас или мем? --Andrew012p (talk) 20:27, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- I doubt it's by far the most widely used word. Apart from some internet communities, like Reddit, that word would be меме. I'm okay with keeping it, but maybe we should clarify things in "Usage notes". Dimithrandir (talk) 15:22, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, that seems like a jocular way of speaking, as per Andrew's explanation. Мем is the correct term, and it comes from the Ancient Greek, just as the English word does. (Although it should technically be "мема", so it does run through the English rather than straight fron the Greek). I can think of a real Macedonian word for it, if I were to introduce it. --B. - I did some edits. Is this good? Andrew012p (talk) 22:01, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
- It looks okay, but it would be good to see some evidence of usage that meets WT:CFI. If it's a one-time joke that a few people are referring directly to, that wouldn't work. It also needs to be over more than a year, though recent terms can be tagged as a hot word if they haven't been in existence long enough. Chuck Entz (talk) 22:43, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Chuck Entz Here is from February used on Reddit. Here is from 4 years ago. Here they even decided on what they will use for replacement. They said that on Macedonian posts, meme will be called "јасјас". Here they voted and decided for "јасјас" with explanation - more authentic Macedonian words. Here from Facebook.
