оу ~ у

[edit]

@AshFox: Hello. I have a question. Why do we write оу and not у? ɶLerman (talk) 20:12, 16 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@ɶLerman Hi. Due to the fact that Old Novgorodian is an archaic dialect, on a par with Old Church Slavonic, it uses all the archaic forms of Cyrillic letters... for example, "ꙁ" instead of "з", "ꙑ" instead of "ы", "ѥ" for /je/ instead of "е" and "оу" instead of "у". As in Old Church Slavonic (WT:AZLE-ONO) AshFox (talk) 20:57, 16 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@AshFox: Thank you. I think there is some logic in this, as for an ideal lemma. ɶLerman (talk) 22:52, 16 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
