Incorrect etymology

[edit]

This page currently contains incorrect etymology for the word, indicating that it comes from самогубець. The two words are collinear from the same root. I previously corrected this, but another editor reverted the change. Proudlyuseless (talk) 08:56, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

I reverted само- + губити + -ий + -ство because of the inclusion of -ий and the edit that removed самогубець stated that it was a "non-existent word", which I took as a statement that the word did/does not exist. I'm fine with a componental analysis of само- + губ(ити) + -ство, but words with -ство are often derived/derivable from the corresponding agent noun. Voltaigne (talk) 10:13, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
