To beg, to pray
[edit]Today, July 4th, 2020, the meaning for просить is "to ask, to request".
Adding "to beg, to pray" seems correct to me.
Primo, the translation section of the Russian page for просить, gives: "ask, beg, pray". Secundo, the Russian page for "ask" says: "1. спросить, спрашивать [...] 2. попросить, просить". Tertio, the Russian page for "beg" says "1. просить, умолять. [...]".
