The last edit on this page is ineffably aggrieving. Since when is Online Etymology Dictionary dismissed as rubbish? Bogorm 16:45, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- Since there are other more likely explanations. This word is doubtless a derivative of лек + agentive suffix -ар. --Ivan Štambuk 17:09, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, and лек is a derivative from Gothic! I quoted Skok, so if you have alternative (sourced!) theory for the origin of лек, quote it without erasing the mainstream one! Bogorm 17:48, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- Correct, but this particular word is a synchronic morphological derivation, and not the one actually borrowed from (prob.) Gothic! That division is of utmost importance, otherwise we'll have e.g. any English word ending in -ive in its ==Etymology== section described as descending from Latin, Serbian in -џија as descending from Ottoman Turkish, Croatian in -irati as if descending from German.. --Ivan Štambuk 21:21, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
