Bats

[edit]

@ɶLerman: According to {{R:cau-nec:NDSG|page=173|volume=I}}, for the first etymology, there's an alternative form q̇ag in Chechen and the Vainakh terms are cognate to Bats ყაკ (q̇aḳ, yellow bluestem (Bothriochloa ischaemum)). If I recall correctly, *ḳ → ž is known in Vainakh languages. კვარია (talk) 10:02, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@კვარია: Yes, you're right, thanks a lot for finding the Bats form <3. Yesterday I found a form without palatalization in the Itum-Qali dialect, but I did not change anything. Yes, this is a well-known change. ɶLerman (talk) 15:33, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think we should abandon the Ossetian etymology proposed by Abaev. And it seems that I needn't have worried user:Victar about the Iranian etymology. ɶLerman (talk) 16:04, 9 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
