Talk:νομολογία
Add topicDefinition
[edit]νομολογία = all the judgments that give solutions to controversial or obscure points of law and can be used (but they are not mandatory) as law. It depends on country's law system. In England, USA etc., is common law, wich in turn, for Greeks, is "Αγγλοσαξωνικό δίκαιο" (=judgements "always" create law) . --Xoristzatziki (talk) 08:03, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- To me, this sounds that νομολογία could be translated into English as "precedents" (which form the basis for the judgements within common law system, but are not the law). --Hekaheka (talk) 07:20, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
- Can't decide/answer about this since my english (and especially law terminology) is not so good... --Xoristzatziki (talk) 11:02, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
- According to Common law on Wikipedia.Wikipedia in England & Wales common law:case law and precedent are one and the same thing. My dictionary says that νομολογία is the law of precendents (I'll leave Αγγλοσαξωνικό δίκαιο to one side). — Saltmarshαπάντηση 16:17, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

This supposedly means "case law". Is this correct? In Wikipedia νομολογία means "precedent". Common law is Αγγλοσαξωνικό δίκαιο ("Anglo-Saxon law"). --Hekaheka (talk) 17:19, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Resolved, I suppose. - -sche (discuss) 20:28, 3 March 2013 (UTC)
- Dunno. I was hoping to get a comment from someone who actually speaks Greek. --Hekaheka (talk) 17:30, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- From its parts, I gather "νομολογία" is a more generic word, meaning "law" (science, subject) "jurisprudence" or "study of law". I don't know active native Greek editors to confirm this, sorry, we could double-check with User:Saltmarsh. --Anatoli (обсудить/вклад) 03:34, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
